Johan van Splunter Named to Solarfun Board
SHANGHAI, China, Mar 05, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Solarfun Power Holdings Co., Ltd. ("Solarfun") (NASDAQ: SOLF), a vertically integrated manufacturer of silicon ingots and photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules based in China, today announced the appointment of Johan van Splunter as a non-executive independent member of the Board of Directors.
Solarfun Chairman, Yonghua Lu, commented, "We are pleased to have Johan join our Board of Directors. Mr. van Splunter began his career with Philips in 1969 holding several positions in product management, marketing and general management for Consumer Products in the Netherlands and Mexico. In 1985, he became Managing Director of Grundig and a member of the Board of Management.
During his time in South Africa as Chairman and CEO of Philips Southern Africa, he was also Chairman of the Criminal Justice Portfolio Task Group and a member of the Board of Directors of the non-profit entity, Business Against Crime.
While President and CEO of Philips Asia Pacific, he was also a member of the Board of the Singapore government-led Economic Review Committee and Chairman of the Committee for Manufacturing.
Mr. van Splunter was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care in May 2003, and a member of the Group Management Committee in August 2003. He retired from Royal Philips Electronics in 2006.
Mr. van Splunter studied Business Economics at the University of Amsterdam. He is fluent in Dutch, English, French, Spanish and German.
