Hanwha to install PV systems in welfare facilities
Hanwha is taking a lead in corporate social responsibility by starting a project in which PV systems will be installed in welfare or public facilities all over Korea, at no cost.
Hanwha will begin the ‘Happy Sunshine’ campaign this year, in which PV systems will be installed in welfare or public facilities at no cost. Currently an 850 million won-project, the funding will be doubled next year, and within the next 10 years, PV systems will be installed in around 500 different facilities. Investments are expected to be over 1.5 billion won.
The welfare facilities or public establishments that Hanwha will support with the Happy Sunshine campaign are mainly social welfare centers and community centers for children and youth. According to each facility’s structure and condition, Hanwha will support with a 3~20KW solar power generator, which is 30~100% of an average welfare facility’s electric power consumption. When actually installing the PV systems, Hanwha executives and staff members will participate as volunteers.
Welfare facilities can apply for the program via Hanwha’s website from September 19th until October 5th. 30 facilities will be selected as the final candidates, through documentation and spot inspection.
President Il Hyung Chang of Hanwha’s PR Head Office said, “Happy Sunshine means that we will deliver happiness to society with solar energy. Hanwha will provide not only reduced electricity bills, but also advertise the importance of solar power as a green energy, which is meaningful.”
