Hanwha signs MOU for 14MW solar plant

Large scale roof-top solar plant to supply electricity to 4,660 households
On December 22nd, Hanwha SolarEnergy signed a MOU agreement with Mars PFV, Ltd. to supply a 14MW roof-top solar plant.
Hanwha SolarEnergy (HSE) will install a solar plant on every roof on the eleven buildings of the terminal complex that will be constructed in Hwasung, Kyunggi-do by the end of 2014. The installation will start in January and is expected to be completed by June 2015.
This complex will be constructed on a 473,000 m2 site area with architectural area of 916,000 m2. If HSE supplies PV cell modules to each of the 11 buildings, the total installation capacity sums up to 14MW.
This 14MW solar plant will supply electricity to 4,660 households and have the same CO2 reduction effect as planting 380,000 trees. This project is six-times bigger than the Changwon rooftop solar plant (2.24MW) that HSE installed on the 29th of last month.
HSE has completed 2.24MW and 0.8MW rooftop solar plants in Changwon and Gumi respectively last month.
Vice President Hyun Chung Kim, CEO of Hanwha SolarEnergy, stated that “HSE will continue to construct solar plants on the roof of factories and facilities built on idle sites. We will continue to expand into the solar plant market.”
Hanwha is pursuing a complete vertical integration in the solar industry from Polysilicon to ingot, wafer, cell, module, and power generation. Of the entire value chain, HSE focuses on solar power generation. As a pioneer in the global solar power generation market, HSE will continue to lead Hanwha’s solar business.
