Three new ground-mounted PV installations featuring Hanwha SolarOne modules in Germany
[Ismaning, March 11, 2013] Hanwha SolarOne, a global provider of total photovoltaic (PV) solar solutions and flagship company of the top-10 Korean business enterprise Hanwha Group, has supplied modules to AIC Projects GmbH for the construction of three technically challenging solar parks in Germany. The plants in Chemnitz and in Stellenmoos Grube, Allgäu were connected to the grid in December 2012 and January 2013 respectively, and the third and largest PV park, located in Unterwengen, Oberallgäu, will be connected to the grid in March 2013. Hanwha SolarOne has supplied more than 38,000 modules to the three parks, representing a total installed capacity of 9 MWp.
“We are very grateful for the continued trust of AIC Projects GmbH, a widely experienced planner, developer and operator of PV installations worldwide,” said Thomas Junghans, Hanwha SolarOne GmbH Account Manager. “AIC Projects has enabled the future-oriented utilization of many different conversion areas throughout Germany, and Hanwha SolarOne is proud to have contributed to these projects. It has been a productive cooperation based on close communication and collaboration.”
“Photovoltaic projects on challenging conversion sites are extremely complex. Their success therefore depends on unwavering commitment from all parties involved” said Matthias Gerhardt, Head of Project Development & Project Management at AIC Projects GmbH. “With its flexibility and high-quality products Hanwha SolarOne has proven to be a reliable partner, and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
AIC Projects GmbH has realized the three German PV installations on behalf of private investors, and will be responsible for their operations.
Burgstädter Street, Chemnitz: Solar Power in the City Center
Located in a former industry park in the center of Chemnitz, the 1.46 MWp park on Burgstädter street is located on brownfield land with challenging ground conditions. The construction lasted 10 weeks and the park was connected to the grid in December 2012. Its expected annual output is 1.5 million kWh.
Stellenmoos Grube, Allgäu: Sunny Prospects despite Heavy Snow
Known for its heavy winter snowfalls, the Allgäu region in southern Germany presents a sunny but challenging location for PV. For the park in Stellenmoos close to Sulzberg, AIC used sturdy three-legged mounting platforms suitable for additional snow load. The installation was built 900 meters above sea level on the southern hillside of a former gravel pit. With an installed capacity of 1.72 MWp, the site’s expected annual output is 1.9 million kWh.
Unterwengen, Oberallgäu : Highway to PV
AIC Projects’ latest PV installation was constructed along highway A7 near the Dietmannsried exit. Local municipalities appreciate the project as a way to increase renewable energy generation in this region in the Alps. Despite heavy snowfalls during construction, the Unterwengen project was technically completed at the end of February 2013, and will be connected to the grid in March 2013. With an installed capacity of 5.8 MWp, its estimated annual output is 6.5 million kWh.
New PV Park in Kadiri, India
Hanwha SolarOne and AIC Projects are also successfully cooperating on a global level. In addition to the projects in Germany, Hanwha SolarOne recently supplied 5 MWp to a project in India, planned and developed by AIC Projects GmbH. The PV park in Kadiri, State of Andra Pradesh, is currently under construction and will be finalized in May 2013.
